Our Story
Twisters Gymnastics opened its doors on November 3, 2006, founded by Allan and Ericka Fusilero. What started as a single gym in Santa Clara has grown into a cornerstone of South Bay gymnastics education — serving families from Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, San Jose, Mountain View, and Campbell.
Allan's philosophy is simple but profound: the body develops from the center of gravity outward, across three segments. Before a gymnast can master a back handspring, she must own her hollow body. Before she can own her hollow body, she must understand where her center is. This is not a level system — it is a line.
That line is expressed through a numbered sequence — 61 foundational skills organized across seven bands: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13.
Today, Twisters offers six programs for walkers through competitive level, all built on the same curriculum taught year-round. Every class, every camp, every birthday party connects back to the same foundation.
The Fusilero Family
Allan Fusilero
Founder & Head Coach
Allan is a graduate of UC Berkeley and a member of the 1997 and 1998 Cal Bears National Championship gymnastics teams. A competitive gymnast himself, he built the Twisters curriculum from the ground up — rooted in biomechanics, sequenced like a line, not a level system.
His philosophy: the body develops from the center of gravity outward, across three segments. Every skill in the curriculum follows that principle. Every gymnast at Twisters carries the line forward.
Ericka Fusilero
Co-Founder
Ericka is a competitive gymnastics alumna inducted into the UC Davis Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004. Together with Allan, she co-founded Twisters Gymnastics on November 3, 2006, and has been a cornerstone of the gym's culture and community ever since.
The Next Generation
Remi & Bentyn Fusilero
Remi Fusilero has earned a full scholarship to the University of Washington, where she will compete beginning in 2027. A product of the Twisters program, Remi represents everything the curriculum was built toward.
Bentyn Fusilero is currently a Level 4 gymnast — still on the line, still adding layers.
