OVERVIEW
Tae Kwon Do
helps students develop positive values such as respect,
focus, self-discipline and self-control. It also builds
self-esteem and confidence, increases strength and
flexibility and promotes an overall healthy lifestyle. The
values and life skills that Tae Kwon Do teaches can be
applied to all areas of life including home, school, work
and play.
PROGRAMS
Twisters Tae Kwon Do offers the Little Ninjas
program for children 4 to 7 years old and the Juniors
program for 8 to 16 years old. Students who begin at 4 or 5
years of age start at the White Ninja level. When students
have advanced through all of the Little Ninjas belt levels,
they move on to the 3rd belt level of the Juniors program,
Gold Belt. Children 8 years old or older begin with the
White Belt and progress through ten belt levels before
reaching Black Belt.
STRIPING AND
TESTING
Progression through each belt level is based
on a striping system. The curriculum for every level is
broken down into five sections: forms; basic hand techniques
and stances; kicks; kicking combinations; and sparring
techniques. Students receive a stripe on their belts when
they are able to properly execute all techniques of a
particular section. A white stripe signifies memorization of
the technique as a black stripe represents the student
mastering the technique. Students become eligible to test
for the next belt level when they have received all five
black stripes.
ATTIRE
Students are required to wear a clean Tae
Kwon Do V-neck uniform and belt to class. You may choose to
wear a shirt under their uniforms, but the shirt must be
Twisters TKD shirt or a plain white shirt. Full uniform is
required unless told other wise. No jewelry or watches are
allowed.
